	6th Annual-Blessing of the Badge

The Maryland Chapter of the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE) hosted its
6th annual “Blessing of the Badge” on March 27, 2009, at the Maryland Transportation Authority Police Headquarters in Baltimore, Maryland. Nearly 130 people were in attendance at this event. This years special guest were, Maryland Transportation Secretary John D. Porcari and MdTA Executive Secretary Ronald L. Freeland.

The Maryland Chapter recognized Chief Marcus Brown, MdTA Police for his continuous efforts in supporting the Blessing of the Badge event at the MdTA Police Headquarters.

This annual event recognizes the courage, dedication, challenges and commitment of our Law Enforcement professionals. The highest ranking law enforcement officer present at the event places their badges on a table and prayer is offered on their behalf. NOBLE Immediate Past President, Doug DeLeaver was the Master of Ceremonies for the Event. Chapter President, Chief Cleveland Barnes Jr., welcomed and addressed those in attendance on behalf of the Maryland Chapter. Prayer was offered by Mr. Nat Alston, longtime NOBLE member and supporter.
